Klosters in the Swiss Alps is famous for being the skiing destination of choice for the British royal family. King Charles in particular is known to enjoy skiing here and it’s where Princes William and Harry learned how to ski. Klosters is also where Prince William publicly announced his relationship with Kate Middleton. There’s easy access to a number of excellent ski slopes, luxury accommodations, shopping, and a myriad of après-ski entertainment and activities. The luxurious suites combined with breathtaking scenery and privacy from the world around you make Klosters an ideal location for a skiing getaway.
Not all of the best skiing destinations are international. The United States does have plenty of its own excellent skiing opportunities. Aspen is known to be one of the most luxurious ski resorts in the country. You’ll have access to one of the most extensive ski areas in the US. You can also expect luxury every step of the way, even on the slopes. There are heated gondolas and pop-up champagne bars on the piste. Whenever you’re not on the slopes, there are excellent restaurants that attract top chefs, designer shopping, art galleries, and a vibrant nightlife that includes private clubs for members only.
Courchevel in France is one of the most exclusive resorts in the country. Like Klosters, this ski resort attracts royalty. The Prince and Princess of Wales are known to enjoy skiing here as well as in Switzerland. Courchevel is easily accessible for the private flier because it has its own helipad and airstrip. If you’re interested in fine dining, Courchevel is home to the largest concentration of Michelin stars in all of the Alps. In addition, there are five-star hotels with luxurious accommodations so you can enjoy your time off-slope as well as on.
Vail is another of Colorado’s luxury ski resorts known for its world-class accommodations as well as top ski slopes. The skiing is excellent, but you won’t be lacking in things to do whenever you’re not on the slopes. There are fantastic restaurants and bars, designer shopping boutiques, as well as luxury resorts like the Four Seasons. Vail isn’t just one of the best ski destinations in the United States. It’s known as one of the top resorts in the entire world.
The Vale Niseko, Japan
Located on Japan’s northernmost island of Hokkaido, The Vale Niseko is known for its excellent skiing but also for its luxury accommodations. Many of the private apartments have their own onsen, or hot spring baths, which have superb views of Yotei-san, a semi-dormant volcano. You’ll also have access to excellent cuisine with both traditional Japanese options as well as fusion and international food as well as delicious pastries.
Flying on a private jet charter is a luxurious and comfortable way to start any ski holiday. It’s much easier to transport your own ski equipment to the resort as well as safely return home with any purchases when you fly private. Additionally, you may be able to fly directly to the ski resort, like Courchevel in the French Alps, which has its own airfield.
